The AKM stars from round 2
The AKM didn't find as many as flashing performances on round two as it found on round one and thus it will not hand out as many stars it did on the previous round.
But that doesn't mean there weren't great deeds done on round two. So to cut the crap here are...
The AKM stars round two of the group play.
Three stars
Tilion of Utumno
He alone was able to open the last lock of Rivendell defence, namely Elrond. He turned the 0-0 game into 2-0 win for Utumno more or less by himself with his two goals at the last twenty minutes really whipping up his team to play.
Two stars
Finwë of Tirion
In the game of the open doors Finwë was the key factor for Tirion outscoring Havens: with his one goal and two assists he was clearly the elf of the match. Rising to occasion ahead of Miriel, Fëanor and Nerdanel is a feat as such and worth two stars. When the wife, the son and the daughter-in-law hesitate, the patriarch needs to show the way...
One star
Ancalagon the Black of Thangorodrim
After all the row over dead dragons and other unhospitabilities brought forwards by the organising committee of the games in Valimar - and the pressure of the homecrowds - Ancalagon really rose to his stature and was the prime force defeating Lorien with his two goals and making Thangorodrim a real candidate for qualifying in the hostile soil. If the AKM would hand out half points it would give one to Scatha for being the right hand dragon...
Romendacil of Gondor
Getting five shots out of six makes Romendacil the best goalie of the round and a key factor in Gondor topping Wold in a match that gave Gondor an opportunity to qualify and basically sent Wold back home.
The AKM stars after two games:
Three stars
Elrond of Rivendell
Tilion of Utumno
Two stars
Eorl of Rohan
Finwë of Tirion
Miriel of Tirion
One star
Ancalagon the Black of Thangoodrim
Arvedui of Norbury
Curufin of Mithrim
Celegorm of Mithrim
Romendacil of Gondor
Tar Minastir of Havens
A note to all the followers of the AKM stars!
Some people always whine about this and that. And the AKM knows that a player making a goal and assisting another in one game is a great player, like is the goalie who takes three shots and lets none behind. But that is not enough to claim an AKM star. Sorry lads.
The AKM looks for the real treats and hands out stars accordingly. The AKM is not looking after good performances but to exceptionally good ones.
A few times during the tournament the AKM will hand out special stars for something like "overall achivement" - like to those forwards or midfielders who systematically score and assist in every game, or those defenders who systematically force a shut out, or those goalies who always take those three shots without letting one in.
First time for that update is after the last round of the group play.
