Elves are the first children of Iluvatar, men are the second. Elves generally live a whole lot longer than men. They have enouph similarities that they can "git hitched up". Elves have the option of leaving ME and going to Valinor, men, when they die "leave the circles of the earth". That is all I can think of for now.
