I cannot judge from here and now whether I would have gone, but worlds such as Middle-Earth which still have values such as honour, mutual support, valour and virtue always make me dream of living there, or in such times.
With the grain of fatalism which lies in me, I might have accepted the tasks of the Fellowship, though; marching into one's doom to Orodruin, standing back to a tree like Boromir and dying for the defence of your comrades; riding to world's end lkie the Rohirrim...sigh.
