I'm going to be unoriginal and say Hurin and Turin.

Hurin was awesome in battle, and didn't crumble in Morgoth's presence, resisting him for over 20 years.

Turin did harm to Morgoth's forces everywhere he went, and also became the leader everyplace he went. Without the curse on him, he would've done even better.

Hurin and Turin would make the ultimate tag-team.
