Well, if we are to do our stories in the style of the hobbits, lets see if you can translate this.

On this particular journey, we had two hobbit children (a lad and a lass) of three and five years of age and a dog. Two ponies came down the road so we got the dog under control and out of their way. The ponies went happily by when all of a sudden the five year old lad rushed out in front of the leading pony, who slowed down, but the one behind didn't see and came to such an abrupt halt that its rider ended up on the floor with broken glasses and a nasty cut eye.

We called for help and took care of their ponies while they dealt with the injuries. And the young lad's mother, well, let's just say she was not best pleased. Needless to sat, I didn't do all the walking I had planned to that day.
