I was looking at getting a nice edition of
The Hobbit. The green leather US edition by
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt at
Barnes & Noble is most familiar to me, and I was about to get it until I saw the UK version in a slipcase on
Amazon.co.uk and
HarperCollins' Tolkien store. The customer images provided help some, but even with the US edition at my local store, I cannot physically flip through a copy to examine because of the shrink wrap.
Can anyone with either edition comment on quality and content?
Comments about similar special editions of other works are welcome. I see there are similar HC
deluxe editions of The Lord of The Rings, The Children of Húrin, and Tales From The Perilous Realm among others. In the US, there have been HMH special editions of
LOTR as well: a
red version, which appeals to me, and a more recent
black version, which I do not fancy the color of so much.

This made me start thinking about the different artwork and presentations of the works that I've enjoyed...will start a thread on that shortly!
