As for barbeques, shish-kebabs (or shashliks) got their start as raw meat skewered on sword blades and thrust into campfires, in a culture famed for its horsemanship. Then again,
an outdoor oven could be built.
And there never was a courtyard. That was always too fancy for an inn. But Eodwine might want one now.
