Elenna, a Quenya name for the isle of Númenor, was given to those Edain who fought bravely in the War of Wrath against Melkor as a reward.
"Elenna" means "starwards", because on their journey to Númenor, the Edain followed Èarendil high up in the sky. One could also assume that it hints on the geographical form of the island, which looks like a five-pronged star.
