Frankenstein. This is a serious suggestion. He is very good at conveying horror, action, and a generally desperate situation.
Not the Hobbit. Anything but the hobbit. The hobbit is full of whimsey and delight and focuses on the development of Bilbo's character. How he grew from a bourgeois hobbit concerned solely about pocket handkerchiefs to one who earns the respect of the dwarves and is willing to stick his neck out to do the right thing with the Arkenstone trying to make peace.
PJ would be strong on action and put up a good Smaug, but I fear the real heart of the story--Bilbo's growth and growing awareness--would not be adequately portrayed.
sharon
sharon
[ January 25, 2003: Message edited by: Child of the 7th Age ]
