The question was for the oldest heirloom of Men, wasn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Ring of Barahir was forged by an Elven craftsman, not a Man. It was then given to Beren by Finrod Felagund I think, to pass down all the generations before arriving with Aragorn. Been a while since I read The Silmarillion, but I think that's correct.
