I get just hooted at for wearing my One Ring on my backpack. I've learned that the trick is to know what your going to say long before you encounter such Crebain from Dunland. Most of the time I just wind up making faces, because I can't think of anything to say.
'What would you know about it, troll-spawn?' has worked well for me. Any random quote, related or un-related also shuts them up, at least long enough to remember that when you fight for one of us, you fight for all of us! Forth Rohirrium!
