Remember when Gandalf told Frodo that perhaps he was
meantto have the Ring? My question/suggestion related to the will behind the Ring's travels throughout time. It's not destiny, unless one defines destiny as synonym for the greater will of Iluvatar. So, I am suggesting it is the will of God as Tolkien conceived God, that is shaping events according to natural law established when Arda/Earth was created.
At one point in
SillmarillionIluvatar tells Melkor that nothing Melkor does can even ultimately subvert the will (I think the word was actually "plan") of Iluvatar.
