I have looked upon it. On that fated day, I rode last, just before the host. It held no terror for me then, and it does not now. Father, I make the choice.
I can't get Taimar's answer out of my mind. This seems for Legolas in some ways and in some ways not. He was in the rear of the 'Grey Company', and the Dead followed. But I don't know why Legolas would have ever suggested a terror of the sea (for that is what this seems to refer to). Perhaps it means 'death'...but again, Legolas has no fear of the Dead or death.
Perhaps someone else can elaborate further and we can solve this before the Galspter returns.
