You're right,
Macphisto, Orlando Bloom would have been a miserable Faramir. Faramir needed to be someone shy, but wise- looking. Orlando Bloom is way too young and he doesn't look capable of being shy at all.
Cancel that, he was fairly shy in Black Hawk Down (see above), but he was on for three minutes and would not have stood being shy for all of Faramir's part in RotK.
I think he only tried out for Faramir because then he would get to kiss Eowyn. I read somewhere that he was disapointed at the lack of kissing he got to do.
And I am also quite annoyed with all the girls melting into jelly at the mere mention of his (or his character's) name. Being a girl in her mid-teens who loves Lord of the Rings, people assume I'm Orli- obsessed.
