Who would care about Tolkien's knowledge as a philologist but someone in the academic world? Most people find it irrelavent that Isaac Asimov was a professor of Biochemestry at Boston University. Unless you make your argument to the leaders of academia (a good argument I might add) you're going to achieve virtually nothing.
