The Scouring of the Shire - a voice shouted that in the dark at our returning hobbit heroes as they hammer on the new outer gates at the Buckland Gate - the speaker isn't definitively identified.
It is most likely Hob Hayward. But it could be another hobbit or even Bill Ferny.
Hob is one of the crowd of hobbits that pours out of the house on the left and opened the further gate and came over the bridge. Merry recognizes him and engages him in (further?) conversation.
Bill Ferny came out of the bigger house on the right after Merry and Pippin climbed the gate. Ferny then had a brief "discussion" with Merry.
