Treasure on the Barrow Downs
Hello all,
I have a question that has perhaps already been answered, though perhaps not. If it has, please point me towards where After Tom Bombadil saves the hobbits from the wight in The Fellowship of the Ring, he lays out the treasure of the barrow for the hobbits to select the daggers. In the treasure pile he finds a broach which he claims would make a good gift for Goldlilly. He ponders who this broach belonged to, but gives the reader no answer. Tolkien spent some time on the debate of this broach's origin in the scene, so I thought it may be a reference to jewel in another work, though I cannot find where. I appreciate the help from anyone who can point me towards an answer. Thanks much! Nalno |

This is a link to just such a discussion. Perhaps you will find a satisfying answer here. Bombadil's brooch
