| Ghost Prince of Cardolan | The Face behind the Pseudonym

I stole the idea (and the title of this thread) from another Tolkien site. The members posted links to their pictures so everyone got to see what their fellow site members actually looked like. I thought it was a good idea, it engendered (as you can imagine) some good natured teasing and jokes. However, I'm not going first ! Anyone else feeling brave out there?

Ah - there's Elrian's pic. I had a feeling that BD'ers would not want to post their reals visages. But that's funny, Elrian. Like The Joker on acid.

Hahahaha, Turambar, thanks. I didn't name myself Lush, that nickname was created because of...well, not because of any band, I can tell you that much. As for James Purefoy, he did a great job as Edward in A Knight's Tale, and an equally great job in an otherwise ridiculously bizarre horror movie that I bought off Amazon last summer. I believe the USA title is Dead of Night. Now that we are thoroughly off-topic, I think it's almost time for me to hit the sack.

Lush, are you Russian? Always wanted to visit and see the original Dark Lord in embalmed in his mausoleum! Didn't see any pics of you, though. Do the Powers that be allow for uploading photos to this site? On my old site, we had a 'family album' run by one of the members (run on some free host). Talk about weirdos...

I saw the Dark Lord last summer on a visit to Moscow. The Masoleum has a creepy aura about it; an aura of a million tears. Sorry about the lack of picture, had decided to take it off due to a couple of creepy e-mails I recently got (not from anyone at the Downs, I don't think). Alas, my exhibitionitst tendencies have won over, and I have updated my site, take a look. It's very educational! [ February 24, 2002: Message edited by: Lush ]

Hi Lush, You are indeed a beautiful young woman...er...elf! I am sorry to hear that you have been harrassed. Yeah, there are sickos online who thrive on its anonymity. So what do you do to scare those poor 'Mericans? Do you go door to door trying to sell copies of Das Kapital from the Moscow University Press? (I have a copy from there). Anyways, Russia is one country that I would especially like to visit. One of my academic loves was 20th century Russian/USSR history. Fascinating stuff, especially after 1917. It is where most of 20th century history was made. I will probably wait a few more years for things to stabilize there a bit though. Dos Vedanya, Tovarisch! (that is about the limit of my Russian) PS, would you consider Stalinist Russia and Mordor a reasonable comparison?

Well this pic was taken at a campground a few miles south of Gorman, California. This pic was taken on the trail leading up to Condor Peak in the Big Tujunga Canyon area in the San Gabriel Mountains behind Los Angeles. Hope that helps

Thanks everyone, at least now I'll have a rebuttal for all those times that my "dear" friends tell me "Ach, you are too thin! Ach, you're forehead is too high! Ach, your cheekbones make you look like a corpse!" I'll just say I am a noble-blooded Halfelven and leave it at that. Maril-I would love to see a pic of you. All I know about your appreance is that you are apparently short. And btw, I currently reside in North Carolina. Glenethor-I would not compare Stalinist Russia to Mordor, simply because that the spirit there remained despite everything. I am actually at the beginning of a massive undertaking-a book that weaves Russian history with Russian legend & fairy-tale, for my baby brother, who was born in the States. Mayhap he will read it one day, and love Russian history as much as I do, selfish expatriate that I am. I am glad that you are interested in that crazy stuff though; if I do overcome my laziness and look to work on it seriously, can I count on you to offer your opinions? Maltagaerion-I bow before hikers! Raefindel-I love red-heads! Why so shy? Anyone else wish to take that leap of faith and post their picture? I am STILL WAITING for one from Turambar, the apparently not-so-fearless creator of this thread!

Russian history is indeed a glorious thing. I am not a history buff by any stretch of the word, yet the glory days, and the downfall, and all the stories about Russia to this day just enchant me. There's so much beauty there. [ February 24, 2002: Message edited by: onewhitetree ]

Hehe nope. THAT one was taken at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California. Not very Tolkienish of me but I have a deep love of aircraft of the 30s and 40s.

Lush, Certainly, I would be pleased to offer any assistance I can. If you ever wish to discuss this stuff, you may email me at: geetarzan@gosympatico.ca, or send me a private message. PS, you remind me of a younger Gillian Anderson from the X-Files. Except with longer hair... Glenethor PPS, did I mention that Canada won the hockey gold????? DA DA KANADA! PPPS, I can well imagine that Lenin's tomb would be a little spooky.
