Where were the Important Folks

In the Last Alliance with Men and Elves........where was Glorfindel, Gandalf,Legolas, and Haldir? Were they fighting another battle off somewhere else? these people didnt appear in this section of the book and i am curious as to where these people are at this moment in time when others like Elrond and Gil-Galad are in battle against Saroun. Now if anyone knows the TRUTH and not just making it up please tell me .
