I think the boxes are approval ratings of your posts as given to you by fellow 'Downers. The more you recieve, the higher your rank. Look at the bottom of your control panel screen and you should see said boxes, possibly with comments behind them and the names of the 'Downers who submitted them.

Thanks, Nimrothiel. I find that a very annoying rating system (probably because only one person has bothered to rate me ). Oh well....

I deleted my other post, not wanting to waste too much bandwidth with an off-topic question. I'll delete this soon.
