Sorry to break up the flow of this quiz, but I couldn't resist.

Tolkien thought that Earendel was a name for one of the stars, possibly Venus as the morning star. Although here it refers to Christ, he notes that in the Blickling Homilies (mid tenth century) it is used to refer to John the Baptist.
