I believe the Mace is most effective, not as clusmy as a Flail or Morningstar, strong wooden shaft with a handle with good grip, strong well balanced steel headpiece ontop of the shaft, maybe a spike sticking out of it for an extra piercing attack [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]. My choice for a weapon.
