The "fields" was just vaguely specific enough to make it harder for me, though your explanation makes good sense. Here's a stab; who might have uttered (a little bit melodramatically),

* * * * "Faithless craft that draws me beyond fallen Westernesse
* * * * you will carry me no further from Ered Nimrais
* * * * nor will I tarry me longer beyond the Belfalas.
* * * * To shining foam I marry me and lay down there my white breast."

or some such lines?
