Was it Bilbo? Even if so, I still ponder over the circumstances... maybe in the prison of Thranduil - he knew how to get out, with his ring of invisibility (silly hobbit, had he only known - or the goblins who pursued him, they would have gave their wargs the spurs real hard...). But how to rescue the dwarves (especially Bombur)?
