How about this : We attach rope to a tree then with an arrow and we fire the other end across the river into a *gasp* tree, then the lightest and uninjuried amongst us crosses the the rope to the other side and secures it for the others, perhaps even securing a second rope a little higher up, or if we don't have rope we could use the vines??? what do you think ?

Ah! i see good work! Jeez, im guessing Arië is feeling more special by the minute... As for Gil.. you guys remember that Elves have great balance dont you? im thinking we shal only need the one rope.
