After Bordarigorn had calmed the elves down, and Durelin had apologised to the group, Erdaminéon noticed Durelin slink away to the back of the party. He suddenly felt, not pity, the elf was not pitiful, but great sadness for Durelin. Erdaminéon did not regret his words, what was the use of regretting what had already happened and could not be taken back? He did however wish he hadn’t been so critical. The party was moving on, with Durelin now following at the back, miserably. Erdaminéon considered dropping back to speak with him, but sensed that Durelin did not wish for company, least of all his. And yet he felt that sense of hopelessness, radiating from the elf, something that shouldn’t be ignored. Pain, uncried tears, things that had been covered up and left to wither deep within. Finally, after a long battle with himself, Erdaminéon dropped back, level with Durelin.

“Forgive my harsh words, as I forgave yours. I should not have spoken as I did, and I see that some of what I said has affected you in ways I cannot understand.” He sighed gently, hoping Durelin would not despise him for his mistake. “I should have taken more time to look beyond what seemed to be the motives for your harshness, and seen what was really happening. My vision was clouded by anger, and for that I am truly sorry. I will leave now, if you do not wish to speak with me, I feel you would rather be alone with your thoughts, although I may be wrong.”

Erdaminéon turned, giving Durelin time to decide, and slowly began to walk after the others.
