"So I faltered for nothing?"

Mustering his strength, Maeralagos bounded forward, stopping just inches from the tip of the Elven arrow the male Easterling had strung now.

"Go on, then!" he snapped. "Do it, if you despise us so! But, what feelings can you expect us to have towards you, if this is your way? Death is tragic to any when it comes before their time, but death like that Easterling suffered is the way of war! It is how Durelin went! It--"

He stopped then, realizing the girl had spoken, however softly.

“Because, Kane. It’s wrong. That’s why," she whispered.

Maeralagos closed his mouth, turning to her as she sighed.

"Is that what you really think?"
