Hah! As an American, I can think of a lot worse things than insulting the US, even if it were true.<P>Look, at the time this written, the pro-USA sentiment was rising high. Britain was getting the c*** bombed out of them, and we sent them arms they couldn't afford to pay for in a deal brokered by Roosevelt. Even before Pearl Harbor. The US was isolationist before WWII. We didn't have a political presence all over the world. It was US-who? Don't they make cars? Export lumber?<P>The controversy, though this is the first I've heard of it, is yet another example of reframing the books in terms of current events and sentiment.
