I am a Cheeky British Barrowdowner and I detest the fact.
I'm Irish, not British! *moans in sorrow at the unfair implication and ends off with a mischievous wink... and then I feel my mask of inscrutibility slipping and realize I'm showing my more insane side* I can be a British Barrowdowner as long as it applies to the Irish and at the same time doesn't, for I'll never be British. I have the tiniest bit of English blood in me (some folk from Kent) but not a touch of British. All ye Barrowdowners of England ignore me... I have separate definitions for English and British.... it's Tolkien's fault, really. I pay you a high compliment, Downers of England, and say I consider you English, not British, as far as my own definitions of the words go.It must have been the questions about the pubs. I am a pub person, I'll own. I don't drink and I don't smoke but I do love to go to a pub for a good, rousing song and the lovely, family atmosphere... what's the odd thing that in America one can't even go into a pub unless they're over 21? I have sweet images in my mind of a pub in Ireland where little children were playing under the tables. But I shall not daydream, this I vow. And perhaps somehow the test picked up on the fact that with each passing day I improve on doing British accents. Henceforth I shall be known as the 'Cheeky Irish Barrowdowner.' I can't be British for the life of me. Perhaps I was known as such already, but it's official now. I just think it's odd I was not chosen King of the World, because how often I am... those evenings when the woods beckon and call and I go, and I own the world and everything in it.... just for those evenings and sunset.... All right... as with some of the questions more than one answer could apply to me I'm taking the test again even as we speak and the result is.... oh, I'm still a Cheeky Irish Barrowdowner. Alas, I'm hopeless. Fun, Lush! Thank you! Diamond, I never saw your personality quiz. Where was it?

Well, my results weren't that consistent.
I tried the test several times and only changed an answer here and there (a couple questions didn't have an answer that I'd give and others had two or three that I'd give) and I managed to get Cheeky British, Good Christian, Über-Dork, and Pretentious Prat. I only got cheeky Brit once or twice so that's probably out. I got Dork and Christian a few times so they're possible, and I got Pretentious Prat the first and last time and once or twice in the middle, so maybe it's the best fit. A Pretentious Prat Barrowdowner! "You think you're too cool for the forum, don't you? No need to be coy, darling. At least you can be supremely entertaining, right?" I dunno. Is that me? I just thank God I didn't get one of the teen things for an answer.

And you quoted my signature for some reason, Diamond. Was that supposed to mean something? Well, okay. Maybe it fits a little bit. But as far as the last part- "At least you can be supremely entertaining, right?"- I'm not sure I always live up to that. Sometimes I get the feeling that I cause more scoffing than laughter. But oh well, I guess if you're scoffing you're probably smiling and feeling somewhat entertained. (this thread is now twice as important, Diamond)

A Cheeky British Barrowdowner!
You're better than everyone on the entire forum, and you know it. I hate you. Will you marry me? Moi? never been there, never done that, never ever bought a doublet... Marriage, marriage, lemme see: 1 a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage <same-sex marriage> b : the mutual relation of married persons : WEDLOCK c : the institution whereby individuals are joined in a marriage 2 : an act of marrying or the rite by which the married status is effected; especially : the wedding ceremony and attendant festivities or formalities 3 : an intimate or close union <the marriage of painting and poetry -- J. T. Shawcross> er, with all attendant festivities and formalities...? Or would just intimate and close union do?

Great quiz! *applauds Lush* I first got Cheeky Brit (seems to be the most popular, though I'm not British
), then I took it again and got Good Christian. Weird combination, but 'm not complaining!

Great stuff Lush. That 'wasted weekend' of yours was still far more productive than any weekend I ever spent.
Probably because I spend too much time in the pub. Hence myself being the latest addition to the Cheeky Brit category. Very good as I am technically British, although for the benefit of you foreigners, British ALWAYS means English. I may be a Scot but I still love the Beatles (Fab!) and Maeg, I think the 'rain' answer must have applied to the Brits and not the angsty teens. There is a constant grey cloud over these islands.

Better late than never
And, naturally, I am a 'Cheeky British Barrowdowner'. Which, is, well, right. Was I the template?
Judging by my answers, however, British merely equates to 'having, or soon to have, a drinking problem'.

Brits cannot seem to handle their alcohol. The continentals drink more than we do but somehow remain perfectly reasonable and rational human beings. Brits, on the other hand, should really stick to the tea.

At first I got Uber Dork but the description didn't seem to fit considering I'm not at all very good at quizzes and like to hold on to the belief that I still may have a shread of a life left. When I did it for the second time I got Angsty Teen which might be more closer to the mark. But out of the 5 or so times I tried I got Uber Dork so I guess I'm a dork, hello fellow dorks! *waves hands*

Welcome to the club Morsul , I am one of your fellow Uber-Dork's.
Which actually doesn't really work considering I've never actually been in the quiz room, maybe I should go sometime. Well Eomer I am truly flattered by your determination to win over Saraphim and myself

I am an Uber-dork barrowdowner!
apparently I have little in the form of an actual life outside my tolkienist pursuits, and I'm happy that way. They bet I'm great fun in the quiz room. I'm not so sure about this as I've never been in the quiz room! but it's on my to-do list, right next to Gandalf. Tea. Wednesday...........ok that's lame and I apologize to all barrowdowners for that, Its just part of my random outbursts of quotes from the hobbit! Is anybody else an Uber-dork barrowdowner? |

So far I've got Good Christian once, Angsty Teenager once, and Pretentious Prat twice.
I've kept pretty close to the truth each time, so I think I'm probably a Pretentious Prat.... Cheers, ~ Elentari II

I was wondering how long it would take for the other 'types' of Downer to get in on this little skirmish.
Rest assured, this conflict has now become a War. Who will win, who? By the way, does anyone else think its ironic that kilts are being mentioned in tandem with Cheeky Brits? I guess, you'd have to be British to notice that one...

Let's see...last time I took this, I was an Über-dork. Let's see if anything has changed!
************************ Taking the Quiz ************************ Right, well, I'm a good christian Barrowdownser. Wait a minute...I'm a good christian Barrowdownser? I'm not a good barrowdownser, let alone a good christian. I'm not even Christian! Maybe, in my case, I'll change it to "A good Jewish Barrowdownser"! Yes, that will work. Just pretent that last paragraph never happened ************************* Erasing your Memory ********************* Well, I took the quiz, and I'm a Good Jewish Barrowdownser. No suprise there. When Judgement Day happens...I'll be long dead, so I guess I'll just live it up now

Mae Govannen Meela to the clan of th Uber-Dorks!
And the Uber-Dorks shall take up a standard the likes of which have never before been seen in the Downs. For it is said by onlookers from afar "as I gazed over yonder somethin' most astoundin' caught me eye. And I thought to meself that looks rather much like an oversized arglye sock, but what really caught me eye in the light of the dawnin' sun was the glint of gold, for I saw a blazin' Phoenix embroidered upon the argyle background and it seemed as if it flew in the gentle breeze as a large company rode past". So if ever you were to see such a sight be it known that it is the standard of the Uber-Dorks who ride for the Kingdom of Imladris the King/Queen.
