Speaking as someone who's "Sunday Best" ( despite not possessing a drop of Scots blood) was a kilt for longer than I care to think about (my great aunt bought them and we had to wear them ....and then when we grew I got my elder sister's as a hand-me-down
) I wouldn't reccommend them ...especially if you want comfort... they are seriously hot, and scratchy beyond the aid of petticoats and they are usually in the foulest colour combinations imaginable ..... mine's only redeeming feature was that they were plain and not plaid.... However as formal dress for highland scots MEN.... thy have a certain appeal... irrisistable fascination almost ..... maybe it is that men look so good in formal wear..... or maybe it is the sporrans....
