The CbC seems to have taken its toll on you, Boromir88...
As for me, it's RotK...the time for a mighty woman like Eowyn to shine and show what she can do...and get what she deserves in the end. With her being one of my favorite character and having been in a situation similar to hers, I love reading how she handles circumstances. Oh, I can hardly wait for CbC to discuss RotK!!! |

My favourite book is Book 2, for its description of Boromir.
A close second is Books 5 and 6, for one very special Steward.

If I had to choose one, then Book 1. One main reason is that the rest of the story is still to come.
But I also think that it includes some of Tolkien's most beautiful writing. The landscapes are so vivid, they resonate with earth magic; The Old Forest, the Withywindle, and of course, The Barrow Downs. When I read of these places it makes me want to get out and go for a walk in the woodlands and have adventures visiting ancient barrows and stone circles. And there are all those Hobbits of course.

I agree with Lalwendė on all counts.
Also because of the Nazgul in that part, and we get to meet Gildor, Aragorn, and Glorfindel.Abedithon le, ~ Saphy ~

I think it is hard to pick just one of the books, but if I had to then I would have to pick the Return of the King. The climax of the battle of the Pelennor and Frodos struggle along with Aragorn becoming king is probably my favorite parts in all of the books. All of the loose ends come together and we have the ever so famous sailing into the west.
