Now that I've been back for a few days, I've found that, unless I see this thread, giving someone a reputation upgrade (or downgrade) hardly ever crosses my mind. If they make a good post, I say in the thread, "Great post!" and if it's really spectacular, I'll send them a private message to continue the discussion. If it isn't such a great post, I've found that I just kind of ignore it and move on.
I think part of it is that I don't want to give an anonymous rep, but at the same time, I'm rather shy at the thought of giving a comment along with it. I never have anything witty to say, and I don't want to send a message just saying, "You are a splendiferous poster, I so much enjoy you", because, well, a message without a bit of sarcasm just isn't me. And so often, I don't know the person well enough to know how they'll take a little sarcasm.

Aman, do we have to put a little special Aman Restriction System on your computer where it measures you fatigue and determines the best course of action? Or it could always flash a little message before actually sending it saying, "Are you sure you want to send a
negative rep? That's a
negative right? Just double check!"
Actually, an "Are You Sure?" message before you actually send it would be nice, now that I think about it.
