From what I responded to it came off as someone was watching the movies only to bash it, which is something I openly admit do not agree with, nor do I do. The other thing I don't agree with is the term "bashing." I believe Estel's got a problem with this term too. We're not bashing the movies here. And this is really starting to get me mad. I'll give you a link to someone bashing the movies, and it's something I've never done. I bring up the negatives about the films, the things that I don't like, or don't agree with. That's not bashing that's things I don't like what PJ did. Unless we are disagreeing on the term bashing, to me bashing is "This is the worst movie ever it totally sucks." Bashing to me implies someone who just types and complains about the film, but never say what they're complaining about they just repeatedly say they hate it and it's the worst thing he/she's ever had to watch. But, you don't know the reason why because they just say the film sucks. When I bring my complaints about the movies I explain why I don't like them. Which is my opinion, no one has to agree with it, but I would not call it bashing. This is a forum here, we all are here to share our opinions on Tolkien and Jackson. It's not ment to get this one-sided, biased view of how great the films are. When yes there good films, but by no means are they great. (To me) Quote:
Though, as I said Tigerlilly, I think your case of being invited over to another's house who solely watches the movies to bash them is something I do not endorse.

O Saucepan! These films are not Marmite (though, interestingly enough, I neither love nor hate Marmite: it's just sort of alright
).When I watch the films, I do often laugh condescendingly at some parts ("A diversion!", etc.) but more often I do get caught up in the majesty. Like when the horses are racing across the plains of Rohan; what is there to snigger at there? Nay, I have found a comfortable level on which to watch the films. Not taking the activity seriously enough to accept some awful dialogue; and also not taking it seriously enough to cry and moan about what an 'insult' to the books the film-makers conjured up. Sometimes you shouldn't bother to deal with certain people.

Note that today's post was written while alatar was being possessed by a member of "Bashers are People Too."
Think about it. You're watching the second DVD of Peter Jackson's ROTK. The much mauled 'Gandalf gets walloped by the Witch-King' scene flashes by (actual running time could be a minute?). You're in a room full of people. Some of these are guys. Some people are enjoying the fruits of the vine and field in handy liquid form. Gals are present too. There's been some cheering and jeering like at a sporting event (though admittedly more jeering). You voice your opinion... "<as stated by narfforc here." or "That was garbage! PJ is a hack!" (note that more colorful language most likely was used, but you get the idea .Isn't this like those TV law shows where the smart lawyer paints the person on the witness stand into a yes/no corner? The person would like to qualify his/her answer, but the lawyer presses the question "Just answer yes or no!" Tears, angry or otherwise, usually follow. Substitute yes/no for 'bash it' or 'love it,' state your opinion in a party setting before the next scene appears (you got about a minute) and see what you would do. It all makes sense now.
