The Doom of Mandos was proclaimed to the Noldor after the Kinslaying at Alqualonde. The Teleri were slain there; they are sea-elves. Fish live in the sea, and a herring is a type of fish. In Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Arthur was challenged to chop down the tallest tree in the forest with a herring. Trees are made of wood. So are the wagons and chariots the Wainriders would use. Their invasions were a part of Sauron's plan. Sauron lives in Mordor. Ungoliant's cave is also in Mordor.
