That Yahoo page badly needs an update.

It'll be "three or four years" at the least, according to Jackson, who has announced The Lovely Bones as his next directing project and has also become involved in a producing role on the Halo movie. In addition to his busy schedule, the battle for the rights has only gotten more, not less cloudy. See this movie blog article for an excerpt of a more recent interview with Jackson.

I think a 'The Hobbit' movie would be cool to see all of Bilbo's mis-adventures would be better than just reading about them (not that reading about them is boring!) Another Bilbo would probaly be a good idea because by the time they start filming The Hobbit, Holm might not look right for the part.
