Perhaps it might seem rather eccentric to respond to this a month after it's posted but I've only just noticed it, and it gives me an opportunity to feel knowledgeable and superior for a few seconds.

I did mean to type that Morgoth invested the city on the landward side (this was from the closing stages of the Silmarillion Survivor, incidentally). Long before it had anything to do with finance, "investment" related to besieging. To invest a city is to blockade it, surround it with siege engines, that sort of thing.

It's no more a typo than Aragorn, Legolas and Eomer in the van, that famous moment in the Two Towers...

Indeed, 'tis a dangerous deal to let a horse tell you his tale... much more so if he decides to borrow your helment Sorry, it's a weak one but I found it amusing

Helment 1. n a dented helmet, 2. v the ironical act, when pointing out a typographical mistake, of making a similar mistake oneself.

Hahaha ouch... SPM, you are not making yourself any favours... I still want to lynch you No, you got me there... I blame it on English being my second language But you have to admit that Helment sounds good... remind me to use it as a name on the next RPG I play

Helment (composed n) 3 (Hale + mint) - medical grass used in herbivore treatment
Helment (composed n) 4 (Hell + mentor) - teacher unsuitable for his/her occupation

I suppose #3 is rather more appicable. Horse was not feeling well, and asked for treatment (since I don't suppose it asked to be badly educated). Logic, that is, s'arge!

Why, my dear sirs, you are overlooking the most obvious definition of "Helment"! Just divide the word into its two parts, and its meaning is clear - Helm-Ent! No, we have no evidence that a member of the most botanical of the free peoples ever wore a helm, but you do remember those treeish creatures that came to Helm's Deep to assist the Rohirrim in their battle against the orcs, don't you? Their honorary title ever after was "Helm-Ent"!

I rest my case.
