Server – Tevildo
NAME: Tolman (Tollers) Burrows AGE: 33 RACE: Hobbit GENDER: Male WEAPONS/EQUIPMENT: Tolman has never wielded a real "weapon" in his life. He did use a slingshot as a boy to chase after small animals. His true love is fishing. In fact, given half a chance, he would much rather fish than work. He makes sure to stuff a line and hook into his right pocket just in case he gets a chance to run off to the Baranduin. His proudest possession is his small boat. APPEARANCE: Tolman has a mop of curly brown hair and large brown eyes. He generally has a mischievous look on his face. He is Stoor in origin, which means that he has a broader and heavier build than is customary for most hobbits his age. His stoutness may also be attributable to the fact that he has a real weakness for sweets and pastries. He generally keeps a bit of food in his left pocket to make sure he doesn't get caught in a jam without a snack. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Tolman, nicknamed Tollers, is an affable young hobbit. He can put in a day of hard work at the Inn. On occasion, however, he sneaks off down to the Baranduin, which is the place in the world he loves best. Here, he spends endless hours swimming, daydreaming, fishing, or rowing a small boat downstream. FAMILY: Tolman's family, who are farmers, thinks that his obsession with the river is odd. They are of the opinion that, since he has recently turned 33, he should take a bride and settle down on the family farm. Tollers would rather work at the Inn, where he can escape his father's watchful eye. At the Inn, he loves to meet and talk with the various travellers, and occasionally to slip off on his own to the river. Last edited by piosenniel; 05-27-2006 at 02:41 AM. |

Ostler/Groundskeeper/Handyman – Arry
NAME: Born Wildebrand Hayward, but prefers to be called Will (from Crickhollow) AGE: 32 (born 1324 SR; III 2924) RACE: Hobbit – Fallohide for the most part GENDER: Male WEAPONS: Stout oak walking stick; small bow used for hunting; general purpose knife in a plain leather sheath at his belt. APPEARANCE: 3' 7"; lightly tanned; thick honey colored curls cropped short; dark brown eyes. Given to wearing brown breeches held up by a plain dark brown belt with a brass buckle; light colored homespun shirt; brown leather vest with many pockets. PERSONALITIES/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: At first appearance seems a quiet, reserved fellow. He is thoughtful. Not given to hasty judgment; likes to see a job done well. Does have a good sense of humor. Steady hand with the horses, ponies, donkeys; knows how to doctor them. Plays the concertina; nice tenor voice. Fond of the Perch's ale and a good pipeful of Southern Star when he can get it HISTORY: Been at the Inn for 10 years. His Uncle Wilfrid Longholes, his mother's oldest brother had been the stabler/handyman for many years and had taken Will on as his assistant when the lad was 22. Will has been the stabler/handyman now for 4 years, since his uncle retired. In addition to his main tasks, Will has found he has some skills as a brewer. And each year he brews up a cask for some of the holidays – his specialties are spruce ale, raspberry ale, and creamy headed dark porter. He is the last of 7 boys born to Hamson Hayward (a well known pig farmer) and Pearl Longholes Hayward. His brothers (& their wives) starting with the oldest are: Hamwise – 38 -- Opal Virgil – 37 -- Buttercup Eldon – 36 -- Camelia Meriadoc – 35 -- Ginger Reginald – 34 -- Sapphire Fredegar – 33 -- Lily They all live in Crickhollow and are married. Next year, at the age of 33, he will 'come of age' – his brothers' wives and his mother have no end of suggestions for him concerning suitable/prospective candidates for his wife. Will loves his family dearly, but he is very glad he only sees them by post and does not have to have the constant reminder that he should be thinking hard now about 'settling down'. About Elves in Barrow-Downs RPG's:
Please use this description from Tolkien when crafting an Elf: Return of the King – Appendix F: Tolkien’s description for the Quendi (The Speakers) – the name given to the Elves by themselves after they first awoke in Middle-earth. “They were a race high and beautiful, the older Children of the world, and among them the Eldar were as Kings, who now are gone: the People of the Great Journey, the People of the Stars. They were tall, fair of skin and grey-eyed, though their locks were dark, save in the golden house of Finrod; and their voices had more melodies than any mortal voice that is now heard . . .” Please use this as a guideline for describing your Elven character’s appearance. Saw the thread was open and thought I'd check in.
![]() This looks great! I can't wait to play Rowan. I would like to ask one favor . . . that we try to remember not to use each other's characters too much - that is talk for them or act for them. I really like the sort of gaming where one player leaves a sort of "hook" for another to pick up on and carry on with. Just a thought. Very much looking forward to playing in the Golden Perch. ~ U

Good ideas, Undómë.
I also wanted to offer congratulations to Folwren and everyone else who worked so hard and came up with such interesting characters for regulars at the Inn! Although I won't be playing an Inn "regular", I certainly hope to have an "outside" character who pops in now and again. Folwren - I have a couple of possibilities in mind. I will drop you a pm shortly and see which direction you prefer that I go before actually posting anything on this thread. Again, thanks to everyone for their hard work. It will be so interesting to see how the storyline develops.
