Guinevere is a guest of Tom Bombadil.
Thank you!
(Sorry I misspelled Bill, and yes, in my Harper Collins copy it's spelled "naught".)

*The Dark Elf bows*

I referred to two hardbound copies I have (one published by Allen and Unwin, and the other by HarperCollins), and each have the spelling as 'naught'. Only the Ballantine paperback version has the spelling as 'nought'. Someone did not do a proper proofreading job!

Anyway, the quote you offer is found here:

Quote:
"'Rope!' cried Sam, talking wildly to himself in his excitement and
relief. 'Well, if I don't deserve to be hung on the end of one as a
warning to numbskulls! You're nowt but a ninnyhammer, Sam Gamgee: that's
what the Gaffer said to me often enough, it being a word of his. Rope!''

Exactly!

That was probably too easy for you, Morthoron !
(And we can't use "ninnyhammer" here anymore now )

Sorry about adding 'ninnyhammer'. Such a waste of a perfectly good insult.

Oops! I had quite forgotten about that thread but let's revive it now, shall we?

Sauron to Ar-Pharazôn, about Eru

Ninnyhammer would have been a simple one - who other than Sam would have said it?
