*shrugs* Well– he'd have had to change his mind about you and me being wolves together after one of us got eaten in the night. And maybe he'd have then concluded it was neither of us.

Trouble is, it looked like McCaber and Legate just couldn't both be wolves. I'd been getting an increasingly bad feeling about Legate of Dol Guldur, but I kept telling myself, "No, it has to be McCaber."
