I chose Deagol because he had the courage to befriend someone who probably didn't deserve to have any friends, and for that he was punished -- just as many of us are here in this world.

Ummm...no, actually 'Morthoron(TM)' was created for an online role-play story back in 1998. It seems to have stuck thereafter.

Reason... do names have a reason...?

Mine came about because I was sick and tired of joining Tolkien-based groups only to have anything vaguely akin to a name I liked long gone. And because on another forum, I had threatened to use Ibrîniðilpathânezel because it was one Tolkien derived name nobody else would use. If they could remember how to spell and type it. (I barely can, and then only in a word processor. Copy and paste, there's my motto.

I just chose it because it had a nice ring to it, if you know what I mean. Well, that and all the other good names were taken. It's not easy to find to find something from LOTR that hasn't been used.

There's no special significance to it though, I don't have a Pippin fetish.
