Frodo of the Nine Fingers

Okay, despite the excellent arguments made here for Sam and Bilbo, I have to say I think Frodo was the best ring bearer. Sam and Bilbo both gave it up (Bilbo, not without a great deal of help from Gandalf), but Sam had only had it for a few hours and Bilbo was nowhere near the source of it's power, nor did he ever suffer the way Frodo did. Plus, Bilbo simply had to give it to someone, not destroy it forever which I'm not sure he could have done either.

The way Frodo used the ring to command Gollum/Smeagol was brilliant, and basically kept them alive several times. In addition, his solemnity and singleness of purpose got him to the Cracks of Doom (with Sam's help), even if he wasn't able to throw it away on his own. So, Frodo gets my vote, though most of the bearers (with the exception of sauron, who probably used it better than ne1, and Gollum, who got too obsessed and started with violence) had some wonderful points.
