It's the plainest thing ever, and that's what is puzzling you.
I suggest looking at how Emyn Muil, in relation to Anduin, fits more than the others. Also, pay attention to this: Quote:

I wouldn't knowI was useless at Geography (admittedly we only did Glaciated highlands and the Borneo Sumba) and have had the Journeys of Frodo at hand for a couple of days now....so I resort to UT...expand it further and try Rhovanion.

You're overcomplicating it, Mith. You don't need any of these, including good geography knowledge (I'm not that good at it either). The answer was mentioned in passing, though you probably didn't realize it.
