Critics are starting to chime in over on Rotten Tomatoes:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_...ected_journey/ Currently, the rating is a 75% (out of 100%). Much of what I read as I waded through the reviews is consistent with what I was concerned with all along: taking a linear mock-epic and weighing it down with superfluous subplots like so many carbuncles on the hull of a ship. Jackson (and his cronies at Warner) insisted on dragging this out to three movies in what is either a) a money grab, or b) a descent into megalomania on the part of Jackson and the twits he writes with.
