You're right Mithalwen. While FotR was mostly watchable, though I had problems with it, things started to go downhill in The Two Towers. To give three examples: Arwen going to leave Middle-earth then changing her mind; Saruman's curing of Theoden looking like something out of The Exorcist; and Grima Wormtongue resembling Marilyn Manson.
