I haven't read this whole Topic, but while reading it I had an idea, which was what I had basically thought all along. In the fight between Gandalf and the Balrog, it tells how the Balrog flew high into the air an came down onto the bridge. Maybe it was that the Balrogs could use there wings as an adnvantage to jumping, but not flying. I think that if they could have flown, they would not so easily have been cast into abbyses. So, with a push of the wings, a Balrog could fly high into the air for a distance but could not 'fly' like an eagle high into the air for long periods of time. It is just a thought. Before these discussions, I had always imagined that Balrogs could fly. They are extremely powerful, an even if they could not fly, I had imagined them more being able to float with the assistance of there wings. But, in any case, they do have wings. (Not even if RKittle says otherwise. <img src=smile.gif ALT=" ![]() "Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."</p> |
