Just thought I'd jump in with a wild guess, but maybe...

The combined total of the Walkers and Riders?

Or also possibly the number of Aragorn's kinsmen that came to their rescue in the two towers.

Or... days days, how many days did they stay in certain places? I can't remember...

Probably not right, but maybe someone elses memory will get sparked.
