About Tolkein
I first thought about him being a hobbit. Because he loved the outdoors and food.
However that fact about him comparing himself to Faramir. It kinda makes sense. Faramir's reluctance to fight was like that of Tolkien. The reluctance to go to war and leave his beloved city or in Tolkien's case his country behind.
Anyway that is just my point of view.

I must say I am most like Faramir (as in the book, not the movie). However, Gollum is also like us. I mean me. Anyway, as I have not said yet, Faramir is cool.

I think I'm a weird mixture of Eowyn, Legolas, and Sauron. For the Legolas part, see my previous post. I think I'm like Eowyn because I can be described as having that devil-may-care attitude about what society and my family thinks of me, as long as I feel I get to do things that are within my abilities. If someone kept me back from fighting, like what happened to Eowyn, my reaction would have been identical to hers. I also tend to fall for the unattainable guys, or the guys that never seem to like me in return.

I can be rather like Sauron because I can be a bit of a megalomaniac, I'm really extremely ruthless, I've always wanted to take over the world, and sometimes, if I really want something, I can completely forget that other people have feelings too. If I want something, I ruthlessly go and get it, even if I have to trample on other people's feelings. Which, I guess, could make me like Fëanor too. I have the temper already, and I resent my mother (well, she is my biological mother, and Fëanor resented his stepmother, but that's close enough) and my father spoils me rotten. I'm also the oldest of three, and my two younger brothers are much younger than I am, as Fingolfin and Finarfin were much younger than Fëanor.

I think Tolkien says also that he is "a hobbit in all but stature," but he does most closely identify the character of Faramir with his own personality as well. I always like to think there is a little bit of Tolkien in all the characters (except the really nasty ones!).

As for myself, I think Pippin would be my identified personality (mainly his apprehensive but also impulsive nature), although, there are aspects of Frodo's personality that are strongly suggestive of my own, viz. his willingness to learn from others and his great delight and surprise in same (esp. with Sam!). But there is also (perhaps this is as much a movie-artifact as a book one, though) the tendency to identify with Faramir, since although I am the eldest and female, my brother has always had more favor with my father. Strangely enough, my father and I were always said by others to be so much alike we could not get along for that reason, and that is sort of how I see Faramir and Denethor; both have the deep lore backgrounds, but they use it differently and thus cannot see eye to eye. There...sorry about the ramble! Incidentally, I've never come out as Faramir in any personality test! Mostly the hobbits--Frodo, Sam and Pippin most often, with Frodo edging out the others slightly. Once in a while Aragorn or Legolas or even Gandalf!

Cheers!
Lyta

You see, I totally agreed with Fëanor's side of that story, and with the side of his sons in that If Beren were to find a silmaril it should be returned ot them becuase it was Fëanor who made them after all.

Acording to the BD test and a couple others, it says that I am most like Legolas. I somewhat agree becuae I don't always talk a lot and I am faithful to those who need me but at other times I can be a total coward unlike Legolas. I dunno...I'm just going by what i think of myself and how I see Legolas.

I've just done that personnality test and I have now a 100%-result (after 2 tests ): Elrond! Already when reading LotR he was by far the character I could understand the most easily. All the other characters have at some point or another done something I could not agree with, but Elrond remained somehow true. mmhmm This is difficult to explain, so I stop just here.
Greetings,

I don't now whom I am the most like. However, I would most like to be like Arwen. I can come across loud and plafully violent but I am always trying find peacful solutions. I always try not to hold grudges and hope that people will change. I love how Arwen is so faithful. I admire how she gives the greater sacrifice without the glory as opposed to Eowyn who goes and fights(which is no sacrifice because she wanted to fight) and gets the glory and the fame. Arwen has to stay behind, away from the battle in gnawing anxiety over the fate of Aragorn and mankind. Please do not hawever misunderstand me by thinking that I think Eowyn is not noble, this conclusion would be utterly flse. Thanks

Me too.

I'm very proud, even a bit arrogant sometimes. I've often wanted to take over the world, too. I get angry very easily, and when I'm angry, I say/do things with a complete disregard for the feelings of others. I'm not ruthless when I want something, per se. Still, I usually get what I want, even if I sometimes have to step on people to get it.

Hm. On one LOTR persoality test, I came off as Gil-Galad. Can't imagine why, though, our personalities are really quite different. But if you're asking my opinion, I can think of about two characters that I can connect myself with right off the bat.

The first is Éowyn. I always loved her ever since I first 'met' her in the books, because we're both strong-willed, female, and not about to let people walk all over us. Nor are we willing to let other people fight our battles, or stay behind and wait while something we care for is being threatened. I've adored women warriors for a long time- a lit of my characters, either in my writing or roleplays, are of that category.

The second character, ironically, is her nemesis- the Witch-King of Angmar. I freely admit I have a vicious streak, which often pops up when people annoy me in some way, shape or form- which has been happening quite frequently of late. I have very dark thoughts, and have been known to fantasize about grinding those around me into a pulp. There's also a note of tragedy that hangs around the ringwraiths, for what they once were.
Am I being depressing?
Blah.

Plus there's my equally morbid fascination with things what are evil, as it were... one might even call it a love.

He's not exactly a LotR character, more of a Silmarillion character, but I identify most with Fëanor. Heh heh, yes I over-react to things a lot, I'm kind of violent sometimes , and I tend to get obsessed with things. Most personality tests say I'm most like Gimli, but I don't think so.

I would have to be Merry or Pippin. Most likely Merry. I have lots of energy, I`m hyper avtive, adventurous, would be considered very odd, and I`m cute! (just kidding) I`m kind of simple minded, so in that area, I would definately be Pippin.

Maybe I would be Faramir. I'm a risktaker and I would do anything to prove myself to others. I'm really quiet and down to earth but people see me differently. Just like Saraphim, I too would protect my loved ones at all costs.

I suppose I consider myself somewhat like Legolas, Elrond, Treebeard, or Aragorn. Legolas because he is a bit reserved and quiet, not unlike myself, and he likes trees . Elrond because of his leadership skills and knowledge, which represents my better side. Treebeard, because of his love for nature and all things good and green. Aragorn because I am a loner at times; liking to go off and do something by myself. And then there's my inner hobbit (only my close friends and family see it), which would probably be like Merry who seems to become more outgoing when he's around Pippin.

I picture myself as a cross between Saruman and Gandalf. I am akin to Saruman in that I can be very persuasive, but like both Saruman and Gandalf I can be quick to wrath (and, like Gandalf, quick to laugh as well). Like Saruman, I often tend to bite off more than I can chew, so to speak.

I think that I am very much like Eowyn. I relate to the fact that she was so repressed and withdrawn at first and then slowly came into her own. I've also had the experience of falling in love with someone who couldn't love me in return. I guess I'm just waiting for my Faramir! My mother actually thinks I'm more Elvish and like the haunting Galadriel, and she baught me Nenya last year for Christmas as a surprise. So, I'm an Elvish version of Eowyn - wearing Nenya

I've taken a number of personality tests, but I've mostly gotten Sam (YAY! ). I've gotten Legolas, Gandalf, and Frodo as other personalities you might have on the BD test. However, the Pippin inside pops out once in a while. But then the serious Frodo/Gandalf side of me kicks in when my friends start becoming little Merrys and Pippins. So overall, I'm a mix between Sam, Frodo, Pippin, and Gandalf.

Balin - I'm undoubtedly Balin. Sure I know he isn't technically a LotR character, but stick with me. I'm happy to sit on the sidelines and be a team player always aiding others, and when I attempt something on my own as a solitary venture it usually ends badly, (Moria). Does Balin count, if not Pippin. He's just that cool.

Hmm..never really gave it much serious thought. My favourite characters are Aragorn and Sam (the Downs test says I am like Aragorn), but also Arwen. Which has become one of my many nicknames.

I suppose I am a mix of the three, with Sam's fierce loyalty, Aragorn's intensity, [mostly ] gentle, quiet spirit, and "loner" tendencies (I wish I had a smile that made me seem worthy of honour..but that's impossible with braces.).
The part of me that earned the nickname of Arwen must be subconscious, because I can't figure out where that came from...

But I see myself as mostly an Aragorn-ish figure (film & book), with many similar habits and/or desires; most of which are known only to me... and perhaps one or two others.

I seem to be turning into Aragorn more and more every day. It's a rather interesting occurrence. I'm starting more projects that I know I'll never finish, I keep carrying my sword around (the sword that I can barely use), I tend to "leap in" to save people when they're in dire straits, and I've become much more selfless lately. I suppose if I see a beautiful Elf-maiden coming after me, I'll head for the hills!

Well, if I must say which character I would identify myself with I would say Eowyn.

Her power, her strenght, her behaviour, her lover for her family and the king, the way she reacts on things. The way she stands up againt the Witch-King of Angmar. Wonderfull.

Everyone has his own foes to deal with and well, I think I would be like Eowyn. She's so brave and strong.

I believe that I would be Legolas. He was one of my favorite characters in the LotR. I think I am like him because he was completely loyal; as myslef I would never turn my back or leave my friends. Also he was fair and always looked at the brighter side of things. I always try not to look at things in a neggitive way, and try to be the best person I can. Another reason I think I'm similar to Legolas is because he was brave. He would have followed Frodo the very end, as a loyal comapnion; As so would I. The LOTR character that reminds me the most of myself I would have to say is Sam. Cause just like Sam I'm very loyal. And I would do just about anything for my friends. And I'm very stubborn and won't take no for an answer just like Sam. And I'm also very loving and worry too much. LOL.

well, on the personality quizzes I always end up as either Legolas, Aragorn or Galadriel...however in my own personal view (and I know a lot more about myself than what I put down on those personality quizzes) I'd have to say Eowyn or Maybe Arwen.

I ususally get Sam on those Personality tests once in a while I will get Frodo (just because they don't have Sam as an option). Of coarse I am glad to get Sam since he's my favorite character and we do have lots of similar traits- loyalty, bravery, etc. But also he have they same values such as family and friendship. But there are some things like smoking and drinking that I don't do soit evens out pretty well. I think that those tests are pretty accurate but sometimes you can tell which character they are talking about in the answer options.

I would say Maedhros the Tall, the son of Feanor and should-have-been High King of Noldor.

Faithful to his friend at the burning of the ships, courageous in facing against the Morgoth Bauglir in The Battle of Five armies, and the last desperate deed to gain his Silmaril and redeem his oath... And his death, valiant but sorrowful, throwing himself into the gaping chasm of fire.

I don't know, seems like myself somehow.

Fingolfin II has just left Hobbiton.
Well on the two normal tests I took I got Aragorn and Denethor. For the Valar test I got Manwe.

If it were First Age I'd say I'm most like 3 out of 4 of my fave Silmarillion characters- Feanor, Turin and Fingolfin.

Ring

Well according to BD's personality test I"m Pippin and according to their Location test I'd live in Rivendell. Personaly I prefer to be like Sam and live in
the Shire

I can't believe I have never posted in this thread!

Well I most definitely have a Frodo personality, but with the greastest of all urges to travel, which makes me kind of different in a way (I can never stay in one place for a huge amount of time). But personality wise I am very much a Frodo. I can be a loner, I am very deep and I spend a lot of time alone, but then I also enjoy the friendship of friends and family. And in addition I love learning from all. He has always been the one that I have related too the most since when I first read the book. Even at the end in Mt. Doom and Mordor, when he had very much changed into a different person, he very much reminded me of myself.

While those online tests are sometimes fun and amusing, please try to make an attempt to describe why you're most like the character you choose. That was the original question asked, and doing so will keep this thread on-topic and interesting to read. We don't need another "Who's your favourite character?" thread!

I was just thinking recently how much I resemble Bilbo. I generally have a hobbity personality but I share Bilbo's intelectual curiosity. I can see myself pouring over old Elvish scrolls and making poems about Earendil, while at the same time looking forward to the next meal. Long councils (debates, etc) end up boring me. (I am easily bored ). I selfishly surround myself with bright and interesting people. Sometimes I suprise not only the others but also myself, finding a strength in me that I had no idea I possessed. And lastly, I'm a peace maker at heart.

White Tree

This a very difficult question to ask. hhmmmm....I would have to say that I am most like 3 character of LOTR. These three are: Elrond, Eowyn, and Sam.

Elrond because my friends say that I seem to have "the answers to everything" and am very wise. But, I think that I am like him because I think over things before I do them..though I don't always think before I say something.

Eowyn because I am often very sad, though I am not totally sure why, but I can have fun at times, and am sometimes very "silly", as my friends would say. Also, the obvious, I am a girl and a blonde as well.

Sam because I am very simple. I like to cook and like the simple pleasures of life. I also like to do gardening, and I LOVE mushrooms. Just like a hobbit!!

So, those are who I am most like, though I do have the a ffew characteristics of some of the other characters of LOTR.

Namarie.
