True. I added somebody to my instant messenger, but got one character wrong. I asked them if they liked LotR, recommended BDs, and left!
I also bug my friends who aren't really obsessed to come here. And Teachers. And Librarians. And...

I also dream about the barrowdowns sometimes. My dreams are quite odd. I dreamed once I was reading a book, and all the characters were people from the 'downs.

you talk to the people on here more then your own family.

when you are in a resteraunt and suddenly have a good idea for a post, you imediatly pull out a pen and start writing on a napkin... despite the odd looks you are given by your friends.

you've decided to skip showers to have more time on here (I'm not quite at that point!)

Although people (in real life)seem to think you are the most obsessed person on this planet, you feel ashamed that you are not as obsessed as your fellow BD'ers

you feel like you fit in more with people here then offline.

I completely agree! Just yesterday I was yelling at my sis telling her there WERE people like me! I was yelling off random BDer's and she just walked away while I was going on and on and on and on and on...

You're at a wedding, and you suddenly get an idea for your next RPG post, and start writing it all over the program.

Your home-page is NOT the Downs, to save bandwidth (I'm a good g.irl, amn't I?) but is your email, and you immediately go to the threads that you have posted on, via saved messages with the links to them.

Your dad has told you that you need to get a life because you spend so much time on the Downs.

When you have managed to get your little sister who has a love affair with Peter Benchley (his books anyway) interested enough in LotR to register on the Downs! (Go me!)

When you start getting BD withdrawal when you sister takes ten minutes more on the computer than she was supposed to.

*You now have a collection of BDers sigs and Avatars *ish very proud*

*You see one of Beren87's posts and yell (very loudly, I might add), "YAYISHNESS!!! Beren's confetti-throwing wizard is back--even though he's not throwing confetti anymore! YAY!!"

I received some very, very odd looks after that particular comment ("What? I wasn't doing anything! Honest! Just... go about you buiseness everybody!").

My sister's screen name? Who in all Felturn is that? Actually, she used to be Who the Heck is That? but we made a leetle mistake about her birthday when we registered that one. She lost interest for a while, then decided to reregister, and Who in all Felturn is That? was born.

Oh, yes, and I have another sister who's registered. Her screen name is Durlossiel.

When your mother refuses to let you stay home because she says (correctly) that you will spend the entire time on the computer.

When you have decided that you are going to be like one of the Maikas (at least, I think it was one of the ones whose name starts with Maika) and Cuthalion and marry a Downer. (Haven't decided who yet ...)

How did you know that?! Are you watching me? You people know me too well. I've done, like...everything here...

-When you're at a sleepover and you totally abandon your real-life friends for your friends at the Downs

-When you tell yourself you won't go on the computer...then you make yourself a sandwich, pour a glass of lemonade, say "Screw it" and go on the computer anyway...

-When you write ideas for posts on your arms because you had no paper at the time...

When you (shh, don't tell) get onto the chat just so that you can talk to BDers without going crazy from BD withdrawal. This was during the forum problems, btw.

When you're at an amusement park and all you can think of is what your RPG characters would think of the rides.

You can name more Downers than you can name people at your school.

Oh yeah! I was at a sleepover where I stayed up far past everyone else (was it three in the morning? Or was it five? I don't remember.) using your friend's computer, I think mostly on the Barrow-Downs.

Yes... I admit. I always try to practice will power and fail. ("I will not get online until this afternoon. Oh, forget it, I'm getting on NOW!").

Well, considering that it's summer and I've conveniently forgotten about a lot of people at my school, I think I could.

So what if it's summer? I can name more Downers than school people during the school year too.

When you check your email six or seven times a day, just to see if someone's replied to your favorite threads on the Downs.

When you start to think in computer talk(You know *action* or "lol," that sort of thing) and before you discovered the Downs, you spent most of your computer time playing solitaire.

*sniffles* For a whole day! How will I live? I'll have to bug my friends by talking about it. Mua ha ha ha... And bring a notebook in case I have an idea for a post, which is sure to happen...

Yep. That's me... I never was on the computer much before, but now I'm never bored! And sometimes I actually say stuff like "gasp" rather than actually doing it...

You visit the airport and begin to daydream about the day you will be meeting a fellow Downer.

or

You intentionally help plan a family vacation in location where several Downers dwell. (I attempted to do this, but failed. )

Yeah, I've started talking in asterisks, like when the 'downs wasn't working, I told my friend, and I said "*sniffles*" (And I think with smilies. )

guilty, guilty!

Also, I think real life really needs the BD's smilies. It's hard to communicate without them.

Well, the other day I was at Borders looking at their Tolkien selection. There was a woman there who was also looking at Tolkien books, and I thought "Could that be someone from the Downs?"
