Cool costumes
Everyone knows how AWESOME the costumes for the movies are- as awsome as Aragorn with a winged crown. But I was at a medieval festival the other day and saw a lot of really great home made LoTR costumes. I have a semi-cruddy one myself, but I wanted to know if any other fans out there had cool costumes they wanted to talk about.

Welcome to the Downs, FingolfintheBold! May your rest be long and peaceful.
There are a couple of things to get used to on the Downs, and one of them is the different forums. (Fori?) The Books forum is used for more in-depth discussions of the books. There's another forum for movie discussions, which can be found here. You may also be interested in these threads: doug*platypus' "Cool costume thread...of DOOM!" and MLD-Groundskeeper-Willie's When dressing up... The first is about the costumes in the movie, and the second is about home-made (or, I guess, store-bought) costumes that fans wear to go see the movies.
Enjoy these threads, and enjoy your stay at the Downs!
~*~Orual~*~

Fora, good Oural, fora.
Welcome to the downs! Enjoy your death and have fun posting! Don't feel bad, the same thing happened to me when I started posting. Eventually you'll get the hang of these fora and how they operate.
Iarwain

Ah ha! Fora! I knew it was something of the sort. :bows: Thank you, dear Iarwain.
Anyway, Iarwain's right...I don't start many threads, but my first one was not necessarily in the right forum...I don't know if it was ever decided whether or not it was. Anyway, this is an interesting topic, and I'm sure that you could find people who would like to discuss it in the Movies forum.
Fora, fora, fora, fora...
~*~Orual~*~

i havent made any costumes from Lotr as yet, but some of my clothes have a similar sort of style, such as my silver dress, which is a cross between elvish and Gondorian style, to me.
I also have some clothes in the Rohirric style, and I'm working towards owning an Eowyn-style coat (the brown, fur-lined one), ie. i'll pester someone until they make it for me.
I specialise more in jewellery than clothing. I have a few elvish style pieces, and I made my own head band, like Eowyn wears. I also have a ring

I am in the process of making an Elvish dress out of a green, suede like fabric. It originally started (with the help of www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr ) as a loose model of Arwen's Chase Dress, but has sort of evolved as a simple female elf dress. I'll post more somewhere about it when it's finished.
[ April 06, 2003: Message edited by: Elotareth ]

A friend and I are working on elvish war uniforms from the beginning of the FotR. We took the idea off some picture site and modified it to be like Elrond's one. I'll post more when they are done.
~Burzdol~

My friend and I are planning to wear Evlen cloaks similar to the one the Elves wore at Helm's Deep, to the opening of Return of the King, so we are working on those right now!
