Tlechar: true, but find one more thing in common. HINT: They all did something BEFORE the War of the Ring, which others did during the War.

bragolheledion -
No it was something they DID, not something they HAD. HINT: Although Galadriel did this (as reported in UT), Celeborn almost certainly did not, due to a personal prejudice he had throughout the Second Age and apparently most of the Third Age.

I’m going AWOL and I don’t want to kill this thread so I’ll give the answer. Galadriel, Aragorn and Gandalf all passed through Moria prior to the War of the Ring. Celeborn likely didn’t because he had a grudge against dwarfs as a result of the killing of his kinsman Thingol and the sacking of Menegroth

That was a good question - I had totally forgotten that Galadriel travelled through Moria.
Just to Add: Im pretty sure that Aragorn never went 'through' Moria - He stated himself that he had only passed through the Dimrill Gate, which doesn't mean that he came out of the West Gate, but more likely that he passed out through the Dimrill Gate again when he had finished his business. I think you should give us a new one Turambar

No one has posted here for a while, so I thought I'd try to revive the thread with my own offering:
Frodo Sauron Maedhros

Nope, not any of the things I was thinking of.
Beren fits into the list as well. [ June 15, 2002: Message edited by: Nevtalathiel ]

Sauron
Frodo Maedhros (Beren too) Hmm...they all were in some way involved with evil. Or a Dark Lord. Beren got a Silmaril from a Dark Lord (Morgoth) Maedhros was trapped on the peak of Thangorodrim because of the Dark Lord (Morgoth, yet again) Sauron made an evil ring and was a Dark Lord, and Frodo got a ring from a Dark Lord (Sauron). So everyone was in some way connected to the "Dark side". Am I right???

Well, if you want a question, cause it has been a while, how about: Frodo Gandalf Galadriel Elrond

They all possessed a Ring of Power.
Frodo ---> the One Ring Gandalf ---> Narya, the Ring of Fire Galadriel ---> Nenya, the Ring of Water Elrond ---> Vilya, the Ring of Air

hmmmm... good idea, but that was not what I was thinking.
Hint: Bilbo could be added to this list. That was not a very good hint. Hint: think of a place that all of them were at at the same time. That is a better hint.

They all departed on the ship at the Grey Havens and passed into the Ancient West at the end of the Third Age?

You know, if it wasn't for Eärendil, you could say that each of them slew a dragon...
Hmm.

Ah, but Earendil, did slay a dragon. He killed Ancalagon the Black in the War of Wrath.

Is that right??? Crikey, it is. Fudge! You're absolutely correct. He came over on Vingilot, and did some serious damage to those dragons. And I FORGOT ALL ABOUT IT.
*banging head against desk* I guess it's your turn then.

Lush almost had it, but Lindolirian finished the thought. That means yes, it's your turn.

No. Think of what each of them did. Actually, I don't think Beregond belongs. sorry. I'll take him out of the list.

Ok, I was going to say that they were all sent somewhere as messengers, but then I got confused about Elwing. So I'll say.....they're all immortal???
